Chapter 5: In which the mother’s advice turns out to be the best…
On Friday Sho went to work in a really good mood. He was sure that his mother will help to puzzle out this mystery.
He hummed some new song stepping out the lift and almost bumped into Ohno.
“Ah! Gomen, Ohno-kun!”
“How was your day off? You’re in a surprisingly good mood since then; something good happened?” Ohno asked in an uncharacteristically talkative way. “Oh, if I’m not wrong, you owe me a lunch… I thought we should do that today. There’s a very good restaurant a few blocks from here and…”
“Wow! Okay, okay!” Sho held his hand up to shut up Ohno. The older man closed his mouth and pouted. “We can eat lunch together but only if you tell me what’s the real reason behind it. The last time you spoke this much was when you wanted me to accompany you fishing. So, what’s it?” Sho asked smiling as he entered his office.
Ohno followed.
“Well…” Ohno scratched the back of his head sheepishly. “So, Kazu wants to meet you badly and he didn’t stop till I promised him we’ll have lunch with him today…” Ohno confessed blushing which made it obvious to Sho how Nino “persuade” Ohno to promise it.
“Okay” Sho said without any complain. “I wanted to meet him too, anyway…” he added lightly.
“You did? But… you don’t know each other, right?” Ohno asked frowning.
“You’re right, I don’t know him yet, but I can be curious, don’t you think?” Sho asked amused by Ohno’s face.
Ohno pouted some more.
“But why? I don’t understand it…”
“It’s okay, there’s no need you to understand it, Ohno-kun…” Sho chuckled.
“Kazu said the same…” Ohno mumbled and left the room.
“Oh-chan!”
Sho and Ohno left the building unsuspecting; Ohno was talking about how he doesn’t understand why people don’t want fish shaped tiles on there houses' roof (“I don’t understand it, Sho-kun! Fishes are nice and cute; everyone wants their house to be nice or cute, don’t they?”), when the calling sounded and a small, skinny guy jumped on Ohno literally. He clasped his arms around the older man’s neck and put his legs around his waist kissing him feverishly. Ohno immediately put one hand under his thigh and the other around his back to prevent his falling.
“Mmm… Ni…nhoo…” Ohno tried to say something but Nino was too busy rediscovering the depth of Ohno’s sweet mouth to let him speak a word. “Ni…no… mmnn… we’re… not at… home… nnghh…” Ohno managed to say when Nino’s lips moved from his mouth to his neck. “People are watching…” Ohno added mumbling and blushed deeply.
“But I can feel you like it…” Nino purred and licked his ear.
The older can’t help but moan in pleasure.
“See?... You like it…” Nino murmured and started to mark his man spectacularly on his neck.
“Kazu!” Ohno could collect all his left over will power to say it instead just moaning under Nino’s treatment.
This time Nino finally obeyed and hopped off.
“You’re no fun, Oh-chan…” he pouted.
“Kazu!” Ohno scolded him again trying to gather the remains of his pride.
“But Oh-chan! You made me wait sooooo long and I just missed you sooooooo bad…” Nino whined as the spoiled brat he was.
“We’ll talk about it at home… But now, you wanted to meet Sho-kun…” Ohno reminded him.
Now Nino turned to Sho who was standing a few meters away and tried not looking at their direction (or more over tried to act as he doesn’t know the couple…)
Ohno quickly introduced them to each other then they headed to the restaurant.
“So… Ninomiya-san… care to tell me why did you want to meet me?” Sho asked after the waitress put their orders on the table.
“I told you to call me Nino…” the younger said and continued feeding Ohno. “And to answer your question; after listening to Sho-kun this… and Sho-kun that… for three days, I wanted to meet you personally” Nino shrugged.
Sho looked at Ohno hesitantly. He can’t imagine the older man to talk about him to Nino.
“Not Oh-chan!” Nino snorted when he noticed Sho’s glance. “Aiba! You know, I think he totally fell for you…” Nino said nonchalantly; Sho simply choked on his food hearing this. “I mean… he never shuts up; he can talk about anything and everything for hours but you’re a different topic” Nino continued undisturbed. “He didn’t even talk this much about MatsuJun yet…” Nino looked at Sho for a moment. “…yet he is way better-looking than you and he’s half naked photos are plastered all over the city. If I wouldn’t have Oh-chan, sure I’ll try to get into his pants…” the game tester mused aloud.
“Oi!” Sho and Ohno cried out in the same time but for different reasons.
Sho because Nino thought Jun looks better than him (not that he really cares about what others might think about his appearance; but there’s no way in hell, he loose against Matsumoto Jun!) And Ohno because Nino thinks about getting into other men’s pants…
“I said if I wouldn’t have you” Nino said reassuring and pecked Ohno’s pouty lips.
“Oh… okay” Ohno shrugged and turned back to his lunch.
“Okay, I have to go now… I have to test at least a dozen games!” Nino announced happily. “Sho-kun, thanks for the treat, it was a pleasure to meet you! You’re just as I thought you would be; you fit perfectly to Aiba-chan!” Nino said and kissed Ohno one last time before left the restaurant.
Sho would’ve taken the last sentence as a compliment if it wouldn’t be obvious that Nino meant it the other way…
“Tadaima, kaa-san!” Sho called when he stepped into the house and run to the kitchen knowing his mom will be there.
“Okaeri, Sho” his mom said smiling when he stepped in.
Sho sat to the table; he was just watching his mom cooking for a while and thought about how he should start the conversation. The woman observed him from the corner of her eyes and waited patiently him to speak up about whatever he wants to talk about.
“Kaa-san! Dou you remember Aiba’s family? They lived in the neighborhood…” Sho said finally.
“Aiba?... Oh, I know! They moved in when you were five or six years old… Their son was a few years younger than you. You two were practically glued together like twins. No, like lovers!” the woman laughed. Sho blushed; back then he didn’t notice they were this obvious. “Why do you ask it?”
“Do you remember when they moved out too?” he asked instead of answering his mom’s question.
“Of course; it was right before your high school entrance exams. You were so depressed that you missed the first two exams. Your dad was very angry because of that…”
“Thanks for reminding me…” Sho muttered then quickly pushed away the bad memories. “Did you know what happened after they moved out? Aiba promised me to write but I never got a single letter from him…”
“Oh, Sho, darling! Both of you were kids. It’s really not that surprising. He got new friends there and simply forgot what he had promised to you…” the woman shrugged.
“No!” Sho said emphatically.
“What do you mean ‘no’?” the woman asked surprised and turned to Sho.
“I met Aiba” Sho confessed. “He doesn’t remember anything about our childhood. Nothing. Neither me, nor that they were living here nor that we were going the same school. Nothing” Sho repeated. “He said he was adopted and I met his mom, she’s not the woman I remember. And… he has to go to hospital for some kind of treatment. He said it’s prevent his condition get worst and that he had an accident… And he said sometimes he feels he has to remember something he can’t recall…” Sho explained without even breathing properly.
His mother stepped to him and pulled him in her arms. She didn’t see him this wasted in years. No. He wasn’t like this since Aiba moved out…
“So now you want to clear up what happened, right?” she asked her son.
“Yeah, but I don’t know anymore what to do. Nobody wants to say anything cause ‘I’m not a familymember’!” Sho said frustrated.
“Did you try to talk with his friends? His new family?” she suggested.
Sho thought about his prospects. He could ask Nino. Even the thought sent chills down his spine; he would get only snarky comments instead of help. There’s Jun too; he might know something since he’s living with Aiba, but Sho rather kills himself than ask the model’s help! And with this, he run out of chances since he didn’t know Aiba’s other friends.
Then there’s Aiba’s new family…
“Maybe… maybe I can get something from his stepmother. Like what’s Aiba’s illness but I don’t think she knows why Aiba ended up in an orphanage or why he doesn’t remember our childhood…” Sho mused aloud.
“Then you should go to the orphanage too…” his mother pointed out.
“Yeah…” Sho nodded in his thoughts.
His mom smiled and left the kitchen. A few minutes later she came back with an album and put that in front of Sho.
“What’s this?” Sho asked looking at his mother.
“Scrapbook. There are a lot of photos during those years Aiba lived here. It might come in handy…” the woman said smiling.
“Arigatou, kaa-san! You’re the best!” Sho smiled grateful.
Sho was on his way back home when his mobile rang.
“Moshi-moshi?”
“Hi, Sho-kun!” a cheery voice sounded.
“Aiba-chan!” Sho smiled happily. “What’s up?”
“Ano… I was thinking about… are you free at one time? I want to thank you that you accompany me to the hospital…” Sho couldn’t see his face through the phone, but he was sure Aiba is blushing.
“It was nothing, but if you insist…” Sho said laughing. “I’ll have a day off on the next week, if that’s okay with you. What’s on your mind?”
“Well… I thought about cooking you dinner…” Aiba said cautiously; he didn’t want Sho think he’s too girly…
“Okay, then come over anytime; I’ll be at home whole day” Sho said.
“Hai! Ja ne, Sho-kun!”
A/N: OMG! Shoot me, please! I don't know who write that Ohmiya PDA (public display of affection) scene in this story cause I never ever write something like this so far! ^^ (I totally killed my innocence for good and all...)
