It snowed alot, and what happened with Hazmat.

First off, we've never I believe gotten this much snow where I am (Long Island, NY, where a couple inches normally snarls traffic because we just don't get any that often) and it just keeps coming. I haven't seen a mess like this since I lived closer in to the city in the blizzard of '77. Actually, this might be worse ( Read more... )

Wow. That's so entirely, completely bizarre!

Ohhh yeah. laughs. It was utterly surreal. And scary. Very scary. At least until it turned out to not be something directly harmful. It's also the kind of thing that makes me particularly nervous. Back during the anthrax letters, the company I worked for BURNED Tom Brokaw's office contents. It was a medical waste facility, and the ENTIRE company basically shut down to do it on anything else, and there were inspectors, etc, EVERYWHERE when they did. That, and my 'cousin' works Hazmat in NYC, and man...the stories. lol.

Ok, you definitely win for weirdest week. Though the 8" of snow that fell on us in Alabama last month I think trumps yours for "clueless + blizzard = mess".

*hugs* It could always be worse.

Yush! And in the end at least this turned out not to be something truly awful, but hehehhe...poor Alabama. Still, we got FEET. and the crowd out on the island generally goes buggy if it RAINS on some roads. Or if there's too much sun. Or...well, you get the drift.

Oh I agree, people who aren't used to the snow are idiots with it. I went out house hunting and was about the only person on the road because of ice, but I know how to drive on the stuff so I was fine. The same can't be said for the locals in Nashville. My Realtor was trying to cancel until I reminded her that I'm a damned yankee with snow experience. We found the house we have opted to buy that day.

hehe... drift.

Hehe. Happy with the house? :D

I'm okay with snow, but avoid going out. I'm okay with it because I slow the HELL down and drive carefully. Unfortunately, alot here don't. See them on their roofs in ditches a mile or two down. Yes, the SUV can go fast...but can it STOP?
