Theme Layer: PM box in static welcome message not working

Oct 20, 2012 20:44

Hey guys! So, I'm working with theme layers for the first time in a commission (live-testing at taanugim) and, while I've tried and searched and tried some more, I cannot for the life of me get this embedded PM box to work. It worked for about... a day? But only for me specifically ( Read more... )

Okay, I have a hunch what might be causing the trouble, but I can't test it right now, because I don't have a paid test account at the moment, so no guarantee...

Try replacing the link "http://www.livejournal.com/inbox/compose.bml?user=taanugim" with the general user-independent link to the compose message page "http://www.livejournal.com/inbox/compose.bml".

I suspect that the user-specific link is causing the trouble. It would explain why LJ asks other users to re-submit their message.

Good Luck!

I'm fairly sure that's one of the things I tried, and it hadn't worked, but I tried it again just now to be on the safe side, and still no dice. :( Boo.

Tbh, I think the problem is lying in the value (value="c0:1350514800:895:86400:r02dMpHUJe-17193822-442:c0c0362f86c10ac87987e9426b542569"), because that changes from session to session (I think, anyway, but it definitely changes, and I think it changes every time you log back in, and is user-specific-my best guess), but I am completely unsure as to what sort of value would be a catchall. I do know, though, that when I take it out all together it doesn't fix anything, lol.

Yep, that would have been my next best guess. I actually was just going through some code to figure out if there is a general value setting to replace it with, but I'm pretty clueless too so far.

Same. I stuck in the new string I get in my page source for value and tried sending a PM to ~taanugim and it worked, so that is definitely the problem, and what I need is some sort of workaround for the value string in lj_form_auth that works for everyone and not just me. What that would be, though, I have no clue (or if there even is a fix). Siiiigh lmao.
