Want to Change Sidebar Headers in mixit

Hello. Great site, thanks.

I've looked through tags and found this and this entry that closely match what I want to do, but the first one doesn't include a solution and the second one begins at a place too advanced for me. I have a mixit theme with a custom layout and want to call my sidebars different things than the default. I've read this from ( Read more... )

The person who asked in the first linked post never got back to me, which is why I didn't include a solution. As I had mentioned in my response to them, this is one of those thing that you have to change through a theme layer-- and what that means is that you have to create your own theme layer and add to it the functions and settings you want to override from the layout layer above it. Makes sense? In other words, you can't directly edit an existing theme, only create your own and put in some overrides (although, I don't like that term because it comes from S1).

That being said, it looks like you started the layer tutorial and created some layers but didn't get to step 5. You could probably use the settings for Unstyled, since you're using a completely custom stylesheet.

On step 6, you'll need to copy the entire prop_init() function from the parent layer and change the text in the quotes. This is what the person did in the second linked post. Let me know if you have questions or problems.

Thank you. This reply is to let you know I've got your comment and will be attempting what you suggest, but it's unlikely I'll be able to proceed until Monday. I'm sure there will be questions.

Thanks again.
