Kevin lied on Kibum’s chest, the familiar beating of the heart just reminding him of something else that day.

Or was it that day?

Slowly, his eyes started to close, conscious thoughts drifting away with the fading rhythm. In his dreams, he smiled once more.

-

“You know.” Kibum laughed. “I’m a childish man.”

Kevin looked curiously at his lover, before chuckling slightly in agreement. “Yeah, you ask for five minutes more every single morning. “

“Not that…” Kibum sulkily pouted. “Well, yeah, that, but-”

"What is it?" Kevin chuckled lightly, leaning forward and planting a soft kiss on the older's lips.

"I...don't know. I saw a movie yesterday night-"

"Alone?!"

"-yeah, because you fell asleep before I could ask you. Anyway, it's about time-travel, and now I want to do it." Kibum shrugged, telling of his dream which he stayed up all night thinking about. It probably didn't sound like it, but it was obviously something Kibum really wanted to do if he woke up and the first thing he says is that.

Kevin paused, before a smile stretched his lips as if an idea struck, leaving him beaming.

Without a word, because surprises were always a secret, Kevin intertwined his fingers with Kibum and pulled the older along.

-

"Where is this?" Kibum sighed, finding himself face to face with a weird building named National Science and Research Headquarters.

Kevin repeated the name of the place, which Kibum gave a deadpanned look back as a reply.

"As if I couldn't read Korean words."

“Shush.” Kevin smiled, confidently pulling Kibum along with him to the receptionist. The woman behind the counter smiled politely at them, asking if they have any queries about anything. “We’re visitors and would like to visit Exhibition 2C.”

She gave him a slightly confused look, and only nodded in understanding when Kevin took out his identity card. The woman then fished out two visitors’ pass and handed it to Kevin with a smile.

“What’s so cool about you that you can enter this exhibition?” Kibum raised an eyebrow, looking at Kevin’s whole figure and trying to find out why an identity card was needed.

“My sister works here.” Kevin rolled his eyes, quickly intertwining their fingers once more and then tugging for Kibum to follow him.

“Oh, yeah.”

-

“Hello, noona.” Kibum greeted, while Deanna smiled kindly back before pulling Kevin by the ear.

“How many times are you going to come here? This is not your playground, Kev!” Deanna chided, standing akimbo while waiting for Kevin to come up with an excuse for his visit.

“Kibummie-hyung wanted to time-travel!” Kevin pouted, quickly hiding behind his boyfriend in case Deanna started hitting him or something.

“Hello, Kevin and Kibum.” A male worker smiled, joining the trio in the conversation. “What brought you both here?”

“Hey, brother-in-law~!” Kevin said in a teasing voice, watching his sister turn bright pink. “Kibummie-hyung wanted to time-travel, so as the nice boyfriend I am, I brought him here!”

“It’s too dangerous, you might not be able to come back this time.” Deanna threatened.

“Well, it is true that it’s dangerous before we can make a control to bring you back to present, but if you both are careful, sure thing.” The male nodded, already moving to get the device.

“But-”

“Okay, to be safe, Kevin, promise your sister you’ll come back.”

Kevin laughed, giving Deanna a quick hug. “There, there. Stop being a mother hen.”

Kibum had long kept silent while staring at the device. So time-travel was…possible?

Kevin was then handed the remote control looking thing, and Deanna explained the buttons once more to be safe. Kevin then turned and beamed at Kibum, who stared blankly back.

“Hyung?” Kevin blinked, nudging Kibum lightly.

“I want to time-travel back to when we were young.” Kibum grinned.

“But we didn’t know each other when we were young….?” Kevin scratched his head, to which Deanna addressed his fears.

“It’s fine.”

Kevin then shrugged, pulling Kibum’s hand up so they were both holding the remote control. Kibum then turned the knob so that it was moving 15 years back, and with their other hand holding each other’s tightly, they pressed the “go” button together.

Tic, toc, tic, toc.

-

“Hyung!” Kevin called out cutely, taking uneasy steps towards Kibum and looking over the older boy’s shoulder. “What you play?”

Kibum looked at Kevin with a frown, harshly pushing him away. “Go away.”

Kevin fell on his bottom, causing the tiny five-year-old boy to cry from the impact. Kibum spared the younger a glance before carefully examining the new toy he has. Some weird remote control.

“Kibummie-hyung is bad! Bully me!” Kevin cried, tears falling freely down his rosy pink cheeks. He turned a little so he was on fours, before crawling towards Kibum again. A small hand clenched tightly into a fist as he hammered the older’s shoulder and whined for attention. “Bad hyung! Bad hyung!”

Kibum sighed, putting the remote control away for a while and grabbing the younger boy by the shoulders. He then pushed Kevin down to the floor and straddled the younger boy, frowning sternly. “Hit me and I bite you!”

Kevin pouted cutely, grabbing Kibum’s collar and pulling the older down. Their lips met in a hasty second, before Kibum pulled away in surprise. “Bully me and I kiss you!”

“Whatever.” Kibum stood up and walked to his new toy, picking it up once again.

Kevin sulked, getting up on his knees before trying to stand properly, and when he failed, he then threw his whole weight on Kibum’s back. “What’s that?”

Kibum grunted a reply, still turning the queer knob. Kevin scratched his head and curiously poked the button in the middle.

“Nooooo-”

Tic, toc, tic, toc.

-

“Hyung, hyung!” A nine-year-old Kevin grinned and ran into Kibum’s house that had long became his second home. “Today, in art class, I drew you!”

Kibum laughed, before shaking his head with a serious expression. “I’m doing Mathematics. Shoo.”

Kevin rolled his eyes and wrote his name across Kibum’s worksheet, adding a big heart shape behind his name. “I don’t care! Look at my drawing, hyung!”

Kibum sighed, seeing his ruined worksheet and wondered if his classmates would tease him for that. He then turned to Kevin, who needed every bit of attention, and glared. “Where is it?”

Kevin held up the A3-size drawing block with Kibum in the middle, having a winking expression and a wide smile. It was ugly, but kind of cute at the same time.

“It’s so ugly.” Kibum shrugged, returning to his work. “It doesn’t even look like me.”

Kevin scrunched up his nose and pressed down the drawing over Kibum’s math worksheet. “Look at your face!”

“Why is there a lipstick mark on my cheek?” Kibum noticed, looking at Kevin weirdly. “What goes through your thick skull?”

Kevin giggled, pressing a quick kiss on Kibum’s cheek. “There! You both look alike now!”

Kibum shook his head and sighed dramatically at the childish Kevin, when the younger saw a remote control on Kibum’s table. “Do you have a new TV?”

“No-” Kibum looked curiously at the remote control and held it in his hands. “Maybe I do?”

Kevin read the words and widened his eyes. “Is this a time-travel thing? I read it in a poem today!”

Kibum kept his own questions to himself, watching Kevin turn the knobs curiously and then press the button.

Tic, toc, tic, toc.

Kevin fell on his knees, arms pressed onto the chair and trying to pick himself up. With legs trembling, he clenched his fake teeth tightly and gave his best push. Kibum took steps towards Kevin and gently helped the younger up, laughing heartily.

“I told you to exercise when you were younger.” Kibum smiled, face filled with wrinkles that were a representation of the years that had passed. “Now you’re sixty and unable to walk without me.”

Kevin smiled, leaning his weight on Kibum and nodding. “So you have to always be with me.”

“Do you regret this?” Kibum asked as the both of them took a seat in the house that was plain and simple, just right for the both of them living in it. “Not marrying a girl and having kids that’d take care of you better.”

“I don’t. I’m very happy right now.” Kevin grinned, leaning forward and placing a sloppy kiss on Kibum’s lips. “We’re both happy old men.”

“We are.”

“But at times when I can’t even stand up properly, I do wish I was young again.”

Kibum laughed, hand slipping into his pocket and bringing out a familiar device.

The two exchanged a blissful smile, Kevin agreeing silently with a nod.

Tic, toc, tic, toc.

-

Kevin blinked, adjusting to the light once more. Deanna smiled brightly, clapping her hands. “You both made it back!”

Kibum grinned, nodding, a lot happier now that his dream did come true.

“Was it fun?” Deanna’s co-worker smiled, taking the device from Kibum and then keeping it aside.

“A lot of fun.” Kevin and Kibum chorused.

“Thank you very much.” Kibum bowed to the both of them, the smile still reluctant to leave his face. Turning to Kevin with the same smile, he pulled the younger towards him and hugged him. “And you, too.”

Kevin kissed Kibum swiftly as they pulled apart, and then bid the older two of the four goodbye before leaving them to their work.

Kibum fidgeted in the lift, before nudging for Kevin’s attention. “Let’s time-travel on our own.”

-

So they went to the mall where they first met, the beach where Kibum confessed, the park they went to on their first date, the cinema corner where they had their first kiss.

“All these remind me of how I fell in love with you.” Kevin whispered, leaning against Kibum’s chest as they made themselves comfortable in a fast food restaurant.

“That’s why I wanted to do it.” Kibum chuckled. “The movie had the same idea and I wanted to do it with you.”

Kevin turned his head to face Kibum, shifting his position before their lips met gently. Kibum slid a tongue in quickly, prodding Kevin’s tongue awake and then fighting against the younger for dominance.

“Mommy! They are kissing!”

Kevin quickly pulled away, hands reaching for fries to stuff his mouth with.

Something about the scene reminded Kibum of the past. He laughed.

-

“Dead tired.” Kibum yawned, running to the comfortable bed they shared. Kibum turned his body to make himself comfortable, adjusting the pillow and then blindly arranging the blankets.

Kevin locked the door and mimicked Kibum, flying on top of his boyfriend before cuddling against the older’s warmth.

“Good night.”

Kevin repeated the words, and heard the familiar rhythm.

Tic, toc, tic, toc.
