Da-yeh-nu (דַּיֵּנוּ). When spoken quickly it slurs into the pronounciation we normally use, but the "y" that produces the "ai" is actually the beginning of a new syllable.
Ah, I was actually talking about the SECOND syllable (yeh), which I've always heard pronounced like "yay" - as in "yay, I have a cookie." Or maybe I misunderstood what sound you were saying didn't exist in Hebrew?
I was sort of hoping at least they could get a single NAME right, though, even if they can't speak a paragraph in another language to save their lives.

Is that true? If so, what's the correct pronunciation of (the second syllable of) Dayenu?

(If you look at this chart, the vowal under the yud in "dayenu" is the fourth vowel marker down-- the tzareh.)
