The problem with beating Final Fantasy XIII ... I know there simply won't be another game that I like this much coming out for a while. I was, in a word, stunned. I mean, I wasn't like that in my review of FF XIII cause I needed to be more obejctive and professional, but from a pure fanboy level, I was just so... very stunned by the whole ( Read more... )

It's funny, I'm actually about ready to give up on XIII. I adore the combat system, the character development, the plot line and the graphics. I hate the fact that I'm being railroaded into the plot, with no chance to explore or go beyond that plot. I hit Chapter 10, and now I have to sit down and level grind to bring my Crystarium to where I want it to be.

I'll get through it, but with the lack of quality in XII, this railroading in XIII, the horrible changes made to XI, and the horrid reviews of XIV so far...I'm beginning to worry that SE is getting a bit too sure of themselves.

Here is a peace of advice, Don't grind in chapter ten. Get to Chapter 11, that is when the game opens up and gets very open world, and you can explore, and do missions, and do all that fun beyond the plot stuff. It's meant to kick in just when you want it most. It's like a drug dealer.

Also SE said they may stop the Final Fatnasy series all together.

Well, you've never steered me wrong before, so I'll make my push to Ch 11 this week. Thanks for the advice :)

As a measuring stick, the grinding battles in Ch 11 (at least the ones I did) gave you about 6600 CP per battle
