Do you know if using a proxy would fool amazon.de into thinking I'm from Germany?  Or would I also need a German credit card?

This is for perfectly legitimate reasons,  I swear.

ETA:  ZOMG.  If you go through a German proxy that supports SSL, you can in fact order and download MP3s that are supposed to be sold in Germany only!  SCORE.

Assuming they accept non-German credit cards, it would probably be enough with a proxy. (What if the arrangement were that you were simply buying the German person something? They couldn't/shouldn't stop that.)

As the ETA shows, they do in fact accept non-German cards. Even when I put in a non-German billing address, it didn't give me any problem. It was only when I tried putting MP3s in my cart with a non-German IP that they tried giving me issues.
