Inara slipped into Zoe's quarters, uninvited, balancing a cup of tea with one hand while she manuvered into the tiny space. She could barely stand up straight, but the room felt vast with absence. Zoe sat on the bed, wearing a sleeveless shirt and heavy pants and no shoes, looking at a hologram on the far wall. Dried tears left tracks on her face, as if a mask had been pulled off, leaving streaks of glue behind. She didn't greet Inara's entrance. Didn't tell her to go away. Didn't ask her what she was doing. Just sat
