Request Drabbles Ahora!

So, I wasn't going to do this, because I don't do memes, and I didn't think anyone cared for a story by me. Besides the dozen things I should be working on. geonncannon has informed me that this is not the case, and that he would like a drabble ( Read more... )

Kaylee knocked quietly at Inara's shuttle.

"Come in, Kaylee," called Inara.

Kaylee pushed open the door. "How'd you know it was me?"

Inara was sitting on the edge of the bed. She smiled at Kaylee. "It's your knock."

"I have a knock?"

"And a beautiful blush."

Kaylee raised her hand to her cheek. "I didn't see you at dinner."

"I guess I don't feel very comfortable around Saffron." Inara sighed.

Kaylee stepped further into the shuttle. "Inara is she... Is that how a wife's supposed to act?"

Inara met Kaylee's eyes. "Do you think so?"

"It's just... She seems so certain of it. But I ain't never encountered someone like her before. She taught me how to cook what she was making for Mal..."

"I saw," Inara said.

"You saw?"

"I... didn't mean to spy. I saw you with her. Her hands... guiding yours. I thought--"

Kaylee giggled. "You thought... what? That Saffron was making the moves on me? She's Mal's wife ( ... )

Woohoo! Awesome, awesome fic, thank you so much. :) Man, so much to love here....Saffron showing Kaylee how to cook (lol), Inara not coming to dinner because of seeing it, Inara knowing Kaylee's knock. Those are the things that make a fic great to me, those great subtle touches. The ending was great as well the "show me how jealous you aren't," completely a Kaylee thing to say in that type of situation.

How was the repeat viewing of "Our Mrs. Reynolds"? I love that episode.

Hello, muppet icon!

I'm glad you liked it. I had a lot of trouble writing the pairing (oddly, since I ship it). This was like, the third version. :)

I enjoyed "Our Mrs. Reynolds." It's not an episode I usually watch. Which reminds me, I've only seen "Out of Gas" once...Apparently I'm a very bad fan. But it comes down to, like, "Time for some Firefly. I could watch 'Heart of Gold' or...anything else at all. 'Heart of Gold' it is!"

Thank you so much for detailed feedback, and liking Kaylee's voice.

Hehe. I love my muppet icon, but now I feel guilty because I don't remember who I got it from. *shakes fist at monitor* :p

Crap. Sorry you had trouble writing the pairing. It's interesting that you mention that though because I cannot write pairings I ship. At. All. It's quite strange. I don't write very much (I don't think I've written anything this year. lol) but when I can manage it, I find it easier to write characters who aren't my favorite. Take Lost for instance. I could churn out Charlie/Claire drabbles all day long, but I hate Charlie and the pairing kinda makes me want to spew, but I can see what other people like about it and can make it work for them. Damn I'm weird.

Lol, nah you're not a bad fan. Just a selective with your time one, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. :) Oooh 'Heart of Gold', me likey. I only recently got the box set and got to see it for the first time. Oooh the Mal/Inara angst. Good stuff.

I know how you feel. I can write a few characters really well--Hammond on Stargate SG-1, for instance. This is a useless skill.

I'm glad you got to see the unaired episodes. They're all great. I need to work my way up to watching the commentaries.
