That was my problem. If you would have asked me at age 11 who my favorite authors were, I would have said JRR Tolkien, Danielle Steele and Stephen King. :) Oh, and I had a small Whitley Strieber phase at 12, which mixed the sex and horror...but even I guessed I was too young for that. I can't remember them all, but I really did have a thing for the graphic erotica novels...espeically the historical.
Oh, and I read a lot of occult stuff too, especially the more TM/ESP-ish stuff. That wasn't as "taboo" for me, though. Mostly my parents didn't realize or care what I was reading. They were proud to tell people that I was a fast reader and read several books a week, but I don't think they thought about what I was reading about.
(I do remember my dad telling me we couldn't rent Firestarter because it was too scary, and I said I'd already read the book. HA!)
