Movie goers

I spent most of the last weekend at the movie theater. I gotta say, for all this talk about the "movie theater experience" being so superior to the other forms of movie watching, there are certainly a lot of drawbacks. The main one being of course: people. Granted, I'm one of those people that are all for going to movies, mainly because I'm ( Read more... )

I have to admit that I generally choose not to go to the movie theatres based not only on the fact that I'm not interested in most of the new movies but also that the behavior of people in movie theatres has become intolerable.

I am tired of mothers not taking their crying fleshloaves babies out of the theatre. I am tired of people talking on their cellphones during a movie. I am tired of seeing people text throughout the movie. I am tired of little kids running around and talking and/or kicking my seat. I don't want to hear loud conversations from the audience as I'd rather hear what the actors are saying in the scene currently occuring in the movie. And lastly, I am tired of spending $5.00 for a bucket of popcorn ( ... )

Oh, and with dvds you can turn on subtitles if you can't understand what the guy just mumbled is being said.

I haven't had so many problems with babies and cell phones of late, and I really wouldn't mind texters as long as they weren't sitting right next to me. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the home experience just as much for it's charm and lack of people, just that I've usually already seen the movie in theater. It's more of a boredom kind of thing, nothing better to do than see a movie and putter around the mall for a bit. While DVDs are a good way to spend the weekend, the theater just seems like a must for a Friday night when you just feel like getting out. Granted, I never buy any of the concessions there, and just bring in my own stuff. They've yet to stop me. Most of the movies I've seen of late have been pretty good, by ratio. The Prestige, The Departed, Casion royale. All well worth it.

I think you'd like it. It's a lot more realistic than the previous ones, and the new Bond is by far the most Bad-arse.

And he's half-naked in some of the scenes... that's always a plus. =O
