The end of winter is a sad time for me. I love the cold, the frost in the morning, the promise of a snowy day. But the Earth turns, the seasons change, and winter warms into spring. I always see the first really warm day of the year as a personal insult, especially when the winter was as short as this year's was. We had a 70-degree day at Christmas ( Read more... )

I love Spring, but then I live considerably more north than you, and your barren slopes and leaf-tossed garden is still my snowbound hills and sub-freezing temperatures. But you give me hope that this too will end and Spring will come again.

Spring usually comes and goes about three or four times here until it decides to stick around.

Heat wears me out. Even more now that I'm back on the Happy Pills and SSRI-induced heat exhaustion exists.

I do like the flowers, though.

Ah, my psych meds make me sweat too and in addition, I still have menopausal sweats but no matter - sun! Light! Yay!

As much as I also enjoy summer, I would honestly love to live somewhere where it snows every day of the year!

This is a great entry - way to go on getting all of that done! It reminds me of all I need to do to get the yard cleaned up. When we moved here I downloaded several PlantId apps and a treeID app and it's pretty much all I do with my time when I'm outside with the dog.... I love learning what is growing in my space and I am trying to learn how to quash out the invasives (a constant fight against English ivy) and encourage the natives (I have a healthy moss and mushroom population and lots of crippled cranefly orchids). I bet your area is beautiful!

When I first moved in with Irish Storyteller and Seasonal I spent a summer ripping English Ivy off the trees in the back yard. I have Feelings about that particular plant.

The app I'm using is Picture This. It's worth the money.

And, as expected, the bottom dropped out weather-wise today. Sleet this morning. Irish Storyteller is worried about the tulips because they came up too soon.

Here comes the cold for you! It's going to freeze all the way down here tonight. Me, I love heat and summer, but I really enjoyed your writing here.

Yeah, I woke up to sleet and high winds this morning. You didn't fool me, Fool's Spring!
