His screams are muffled in your mouth as you kissed him avidly. His thin wrists are in your strong grip, stopping him from pushing you away. In his muffled sobs, you make out he is pleading to be free, recurring your name to stop this. You let go off his wrists and cup his tears stricken face in your warm palms, you softly but urgently chant “I love you, I love you, I…” Before you could say it the third time, you felt the slap on your cheek. Hurt, not for the slap, but because you deserve it, you continue, “I’m sorry. So sorry. So much. Please. Please… Please?” You bury your face in the crook of his shoulder, pleading to be forgiven, once again. You hear his quiet cries, chest shaking against yours. You capture his lips again, lovingly asking for an entrance. He doesn’t let you and you move to kiss away his tears. You can’t take it anymore, it’s been a while, it’s been a very long while and you push pass the barrier. You hear him choke, struggling to breathe. You hug him tightly in your arms, his silky flawless skin against yours, his body shuddering. You felt him envelope you in his trembling arms, involuntarily. And the moment you moved, the nails of his thin fingers digging on your back. You tried to ignore the pain on your skin as he buries his face in your shoulder, biting to stifle his own cries. This is nothing, not anywhere near the pain you inflicted on him. For months, for years. You cradle him in your arms, chanting the words of love but you know you shouldn’t be so easily forgiven.

You laze on his small bed, an arm under the back of your head, your eyes on the white ceiling, thinking. He sleeps a little away from you, in a fetal form, hands protecting his bruised heart. You quietly close the gap and wrap his waist with your arm. Your chest touching his back, you bury your face in his soft hair. Inhaling deeply, you can smell lavender and him, the soothing unique smell that you know as only his. You softly place your lips on his nape and think of lavender. You’ve always waited for me.

You turn the doorknob and found him in the tub, face buried in his knees. You stand there for a moment, watching the consequence of your deeds. How many times you plan to build and rebuild until it cannot be put together anymore again? You watch him lift his face, a face so forlorn. A face that always used to smile, shy and shiny, mischievous at times. And loving too. A smile that was just for you the moment he’d find you in a crowded hall. You know this is your last chance, if it’s over today, it is over forever. You walk in and crouch on your knees next to the tub. He doesn’t look up, doesn’t say anything and continues looking at nothingness in front of him. You touch his head, he doesn’t flinch. You kiss his wet hair, bring him close to your heart, hugging him tight. He neither cries more or less, just the way he was. You let go and bend down for a peck on his cheek. He looks up only when you start stripping. You give him a smile, “I’ll soap your back.” Your heart leaps a little when you see flicker of a shy smile on his lips. The flow of tears seems to have stopped by the time you are done bathing and showering together. He stands in front of you, wide eyed, looking up to meet your eyes. Wet and clean and looking luscious. By the time, you are done toweling him, he is already giggling in your arms. You are always so easy to fall in love. Yet I always make your life hard. What have I done to deserve you? Why am I blessed to be always forgiven by you?

You just had a hearty breakfast, made with love, and so much care. As if you were never gone. You know once again, he was never over you.
“This evening, I will take you to a special place.”
“Where?”
“A surprise.” You proudly smile.
“Surprise? You leave me alone for 89 days, and suddenly come back for a surprise?” You watch him bitterly play with the fork, lips pursed, eyes glassy and looking down. 89.
“I have no excuse. I know what I have done is wrong. And for the last time, I need you to forgive me.” You plead.
“You always need. Your needs. You never thought about mine.”
“It’s not like that…”
“What is not like that? She is your fourth!”
“I..”
“You broke my heart too many times. You only come back to me when you get tired of them. What am I to you?”
“Everything..”
“Are you mocking me?”
“I am not, and, and that’s why I need you to give me a chance until tonight. I need you to see something.”
You met his eyes, teary and hopeless. You round the table and engulf him in a tight hug. Just this time, please?
Just before you were leaving, he hands you the lunch box. You are speechless, when and how?
This time you broke down in tears. You remember each evening how he would spend hours shopping and preparing ingredients so he could make scrumptious lunch box for you the next morning. Realization hit you hard now that you know the times you left him on his own for your selfish needs, he was still spending hours preparing lunch for you, hoping for your return any time, any day. You hold the box close to your heart, broken this time, regretting your actions before.

You bounced in to the small apartment, dropped your bags on the floor and run to the bedroom. You don’t care that you are still wearing the shoes. You need to take him there before sunset. And if he is not ready by now, you plan to just carry him on your shoulder, bundle him in the car and drive to the place as fast as you can. You fly open the door and you can feel your entire being calms down at the sight before you. He was standing next to the window, you know he was peeking to see your arrival. He was all prepared, choosing to wear the inexpensive purple t-shirt you gave him last time. You extend your hand and smile, “Let’s go.”

You stop the car in front of a house, beautifully adorned with a garden, and a purple picket fence. The lavender blooming brightly just before the entrance, giving the house an enchanting look. You look to your side to see him standing next you, confused. You take his hand and walk him through the fences and in to the house. He tugs your hand for attention, “What is this place?” he asks, all the while looking around, still holding your hand. You walk him to the steps to upstairs, and stop at the first framed picture on the wall. He looks at it and then looks at you, and looks to the next framed picture. “It’s our high school photo!” You smile and nod and lead him to see more of your picture together with him, from the times you both were kids to growing up to be adults when you were both very happy, still deeply in love, and holding on to each other to convey you are both staying together, forever. “Why it’s all ours?” he asks you, tears streaming down, his hands holding your arm tightly. You lead to the door to bedroom, on the door, it’s clearly written Kyu & Wookie. You see him gasp and looking at you with his wide eyes. You laugh at his expression and open the stunning white door to the room bathing in velvet hue of the sunset. He let go of you to run to the large window presenting an open horizon, full of shades of flowers and then standing tall, a range of mountains in the distance, the sun is about to set. He turns around and let you take his hands, his eyes searching yours for an answer. “I managed somehow, put all my savings. I will continue to work hard and handling the expenses is no problem. I have wasted so much time. And in the process, I almost lost you.” You close the gap and place a kiss on his forehead, remembering the time you left him only to return finding him gravely ill. That time when you vowed to never make another mistake. But one night of getting drunk with old mates ruined you once again. “I am such a fool. I have hurt you for reasons I will regret every day.” You want to amend and atone and restore to something solid this time, to cling to your root that always loved and cherished you. “ This place is ours. I looked around and around for 88 days. To find a perfect place. Where you and I can be happy, again. I want to tell you, 89 days ago, I lost the track of what I was doing but the moment her lips touched mine, I jumped out. It wasn’t you. I thought it was you.” You start to cry but this time he hold you tight. “But I was still ashamed and couldn’t go back to you. I felt filthy. Unworthy of you and..” he stops you there with his lips. And once you parted, you breathe, “I want to build a home with you. Please let me be with you. With you forever, Kim Ryeowook.”
