At long last!
I've been holding out on this story since Thanksgiving, because I had to get my hands on the photos before I could post it. I like to celebrate Thanksgiving wherever I travel. Not the fictional story it's based on, or the turkey part, just the "eatin' a bunch of food with a bunch of people" part.
What better to celebrate than "eatin' a bunch of food with a bunch of people"? In Korea, I celebrated by cooking a meal for my friends and 'family' after burning six 'practice dinners' to a crisp (the recipe didn't specify farenheit or celcius, darn it)
Well, I haven't been in India long enough to build an Indian family yet, so I decided to have a meal with these people.
I pass this bridge everyday on the way to work, and dozens of families live underneath. I figure if anyone deserved a chance to "eat a bunch of food" it was these folks. My friend Vikram and I headed to pick up a rickshaw-full of some highly portable food.
and headed out to the bridge, buried in pizza for a surprise super awesome outdoor pizza party.
I'd show you pictures of the meal, but high speed cameras that fast haven't been invented yet. Those pizzas were inhaled. Here's Vikram with the chi'dren.
The kids had a great time, and afterward I ended up teaching them the secret handshake, and giving piggyback rides, spins, airplane rides and the like to them for the remainder of the afternoon.
It was a fine celebration of eatin' a bunch of food with a bunch of awesome people. Except I didn't actually get any pizza.
