so, um.. how do i post a fic, without the entire thing showing up on the main screen? i just want to link it... to what, something in the group, something on my own page, not sure... first time doing this here at LJ... thanks!

The easiest way to do it is post the whole thing in a new entry on the community (instructions here) and put the main text of the story inside of an lj-cut (instructions here). Make sure that at the top of your entry, outside of the lj-cut you put a header that tells us the title, rating, summary, etc. There's a template for that in here.
