Summer Swan Song

Aug 30, 2013 11:42

Eheheh....so it's been since something like March since I made a personal update here?  I intended to do a little update after Fanime back in May, and then again after my trip in July, but it just never happened.  So now I find myself here on the cusp of September, ready to look back on this summer.
Cut for super long rambling! )

sickness, writing, manga, htts, star trek, anime, trips, reading

Blergh. I'm with you - I'm about a third of the way through the book, and struggling to care. There are elements of an interesting story there, but so much of it feels lifted in spirit from HP. I actually started reading it after you mentioned it and because I wanted to finish before seeing the movie...but now I'm not so sure.

I was originally going to do book/movie/book/movie for my HP reread, but then I decided to watch all the movies in one go at the end instead. Heh, I was also impatient to start the second book and didn't have the movies on hand at the time.

And yes! I just saw it! So, so excited that Winx is coming back for another season! (And I hope beyond hope that we get more merch with it as well!)

The reason City of Bones feels HP-ish [I will confess that I think of my high school days since our abbreviation was HP XD] is because it's pretty much a re-write of the Draco Trilogy ::side-eyes that series *hard*::]

and glad you had fun on you trip - bar the colleague getting so sick

Yeah, I've got PDFs of the Draco Trilogy somewhere...but I never had the chance to read them. I've never been much of a Draco fan, but the fandom controversy surrounding her is so intense I wanted to at least look over them.

Thanks! I should dig out a photo or two to share.

Thanks! Yeah, it was a super scary thing for me to trust in a foreign country's medical system to take care of my friend. But the doctor we found was so nice and knew his stuff, so we felt a little better after that.
