For those who don't collect toys, Masters of the Universe Classics (MOTUC) is a line of new MOTU figures produced and sold exclusively by MattyCollector.com. They're a nice blend between the old 80s figures and the line produced in the early-mid 2000s (200X). They're very popular among collectors, and some of the figures have been known to sell ( Read more... )

I gave up about a year ago on MOTUC because of that. That whole screw up with Trap Jaw was kinda the last straw for me. Which sucks because I LOOOOVE MOTU, and I love the two MOTUC figures I was able to get.

What was the screw-up with Trap Jaw?

Yeah, I'm not too sure on my future of collecting this line. An hour for one of the figures to sell out seems to be almost long these days, and I still had trouble with getting it. Because of their low production runs, Mattel seems to have created a scenario where the site gets dive-bombed whenever a new figure releases because everyone is afraid of it selling out!

Basically the site got so hammered when Trap Jaw came out no one (Except seemingly scalpers....) Could get one easily. Most of the time the site would work fine UNTIL CHECK OUT! By the time the site started working for most again, they were already sold out.

Then they proceeded to brag about how well Trap Jaw sold. You should have seen their facebook page filled with complaints over the whole fiasco.

I definitely hate the amount of scalping going on with this line. It really detracts from the fun!

And in case you wanted to brave the site again, Trap Jaw is re-releasing on the 16th of this month. :)

Yeaaaaaah, how's that "buying moratorium" working out for you, Captain Spendsalot? :P

Also, I didn't know there were white screens of death. Are you talking of everyone's favorite internet page, the 404 Error?

But I really AM done buying NOW. XD

No, the white screen of death is this sort of purgatory-like loading page that the site puts you in due to the high volume of traffic. It's kind of like standing in line, except on the internet.
