Little things do it, tiny scraps of shrapnel, frighteningly pretty bullets. Seeping creeping yellow and white, gushing red.
Fight it, beat it back, succeed, fuck everything else. You can’t lose, because it’s not just a game, no matter what they think. Kick its sorry ass back to the pit it crawled from.
Cry, scream, shout, but keep it inside. Keep going, keep fighting, they’re all counting on you, only you, and you can’t let it win again.
