although anectotal - one guy here at work tried something with stevia (twice) and got some wicked kidney-area pains.

on the aspartame - it's a phenylketoneuric, where some have genetic issues with it (hence the seizures), phenylketoneuria is at wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenylketonuria
