Of course, this isn't the first date we've had, but I am going to be hopelessly optimistic and start rereading the series in anticipation.

Well amazon changed their release date from October to July, and are accepting pre-orders, so I'm hopeful.

Are you following the mini series - that's APRIL! whee!

Yes, the series is going to be awesome. I'm even coming around to Sean Bean as Ned, though he's nothing like I pictured him.

LOL - he was always who I had in mind. But then I've always been mad for him.

Oh, he's gorgeous, and his voice. Mmmm. But he's got the same problem that Alan Rickman had as Snape - too old. I'm sure once I see him in the role, he'll completely make it his own and I won't be able to imagine anyone else.

The sets look so perfect - HBO has really committed to this project, so I hope it does well.

Well, since this a date provided by HIM himself (and not Amazon and cohorts) I'm rather optimistic that it's for real this time. Four years of waiting...almost at an end. Reread the whole thing myself (for, like, the fifth time) in November/December.

I keep starting to reread and then getting distracted midway through the series. Have read GoF about a gazillion times and SoS maybe twice.

I'd LIKE to believe it, but I've been hearing dates of publication for A Dance With Dragons since September 2005. I'll believe it when I see the book in a brick-and-mortar bookstore.
