Bread

The fog burned off and it got sunny and warm before I left my office on Tuesday, which was a blow to my mood. (I know, I'm wired wrong.) But I managed the bread anyway! I used a recipe I had used before, traditional Irish Soda Bread, which only contains flour, soda, salt and buttermilk. It's so simple and so good.

Man,I am SO glad to see "traditional" soda bread does not actually contain raisins, as most of the soda breads I have had do. It's actually one of the few things I can tolerate raisins in, but it would still be nice to have a slice without any at all.

I'm not quite sure how Irish Soda Bread became so "fancy" in America - I guess we tend to like things sweet. But it really is perfectly good without the raisins. (I like raisins, but they make the bread less useful for a variety of purposes, like eating with a piece of sharp cheddar.)

Well, a choice of something to put on the bread, as opposed to eating it plain. Some of them chose preserves, some of them chose none. :)
