Standing at the window watching tree service guys pointlessly cut down dozens of young trees is not conducive to productivity.

Must finish the last three papers tonight. And pack. I think I'll add "tree" to my packing list. I have seven growing on my balcony. If I plant one over the break, will it make up for the 40 cut down across the road?

YAY for planting a tree. There's nothing you can do to stop them from cutting but you can help make sure there will be new trees around by planting new ones!

there's actually a Jewish holiday all about planting trees, Tu B'Shevat (which will be in early February this year) as a kid we always raised money to have trees planted in Israel or planted seedlings here.

and don't worry, I think Murray has his eyes on those evil people across the way

Go Murray! May their chainsaws motors be filled with sticks and fur and their fuel lines be chewed through.

Is it a mitzvah to plant a tree? Tu B'Shevat sounds lovely! I've always felt like I should get more firmly behind Arbor Day, or something. :)

it sort of depends. Technically, there 613 mitzvot, commandments, in whoch case the answer is no. However, the word has come to mean any act of human kindness, in which case then yes, it is. If that makes sense

It makes sense! :) To purists, no, but in the more liberal recent usage, yes?
