Elisabeth Sladen

Elisabeth Sladen was the same age as my mom, and to be honest, she seemed so much healthier. I know things can happen fast. Love from a stranger and fan to her family.

I only have Doctor Who pictures, so here's a brief Sarah Jane Smith picspam in her honor.

I saw amazing things up there in space. But there's strangeness wherever you turn. Life on earth can be an adventure, too... you just need to know where to look. )

doctor who, sja

Oh no! That's so sad. I hadn't known she was sick.

::nods:: She was really quite young. Apparently even people who knew her pretty well didn't know she was sick.

A lovely picspam tribute. Yep, she was only a year younger than my Dad is. A horribly sad loss for the Whoniverse :-(

I've never seen the Sarah Jane Adventures. I really will have to get around to watching them soon.

Too soon. :(

While I'm recommending shows to you, I'll give you an extra plug for SJA then. :) It's quite well-done, and I was impressed with how they balanced genuine danger and sci-fi stuff with the real emotional lives of young teens -- without getting too serious for young children. Having the show focused around Sarah Jane kept it in the Whoniverse and they were very faithful to the history as well. And with all that, it was optimistic about the universe, which I really appreciated. And the fact that Elisabeth Sladen was heading an action show alone, in her 60s, is pretty awesome.

(Here I am talking about it in the past tense. Apparently they filmed 3 stories of the next season before they had to hold off due to ES's illness. I don't know what they're going to do about the final three -- re-write them, or just not make them?)
