Last weekend was pretty nice. Friday started off pretty badly, and I still had plenty of work every day and the resulting (literal) headaches, but I also managed to fit in a few things that were not work. The lady turtle's shell looks like it's done up in camouflage pattern. Perhaps she wasn't in the mood? And...baby prairie dogs! ::makes grabby hands::

She looks like she's peeling a bit, doesn't she? They've recently come out of hibernation. That exhibit is a bit odd, from a visitor's point of view: it's pretty huge compared to the other exhibits around, some of which house animals you'd think would need more space... and it's apparently dedicated entirely to box turtles, an animal we seem to have in relative abundance right here in our area. (Though one of the varieties actually is quite rare.) But good for the box turtles, anyway!

Aren't the prairie dogs adorable? They were really enjoying the sun and veggies.

It was adorable to see them playing with each other and the adults. I love their tiny, erect, black-tipped tails!

Is he allergic to the fact that they're rodent-like, or that they're cute? Maybe he'd prefer the turtles gettin' it on. :)

It was very sunny that day! It actually made photography challenging. But so pleasant.
