I'm fairly convinced that initially Masamune intended to let the issue with Ritsu quietly sink and go business as usual in name of everything sane and practical. Of course it didn't go quite as planned :)
Part of the inspiration for this fic is a party where a good friend of mine unexpectedly saw his ex, with whom he had a painful break-up. At first he didn't want to face her at all but he couldn't walk away and in the end ended up talking to her for four hours. I wrote this piece using what I saw then.

I tended to think up username on the spot so I lost accounts many times because I don't even remember exactly the username *facepalm*. rustycolonel as well as its variants is my most commonly used one.
It's the two week gap and how, well, volatile the circumstances surrounding their first confrontation that makes me speculate so. Laying all cards on the table from his identity to his intention of winning the relationship back towards Ritsu was either very brave or plain irrational/insane (Yokozawa would probably be of this opinion). Then again, Masamune isn't known for playing it safe when it comes to his love.
