randomness: star wars, nin, veronica mars, oscars, asoiaf...

Jeordie White is a total Star Wars nerd. This amuses me immensely.

Also amusing is the latest Meathead Perspective. I think most of the reason I keep up with NIN these days is to make sure I won't miss any of Meathead's jokes.

Veronica Mars last night was stunningly bad. ( not really spoilery, but just in case )

NY Comic-Con was substantially less improved than I had hoped. I went Friday, and did have a pretty good time, but I decided not to come back for the rest of the weekend, despite having bought a pass. The lengthy standing-in-line outside in cold and wind-chill was not really fun.

Their scheduling was a mess, with events you needed tickets for that started at 4:30, when the doors opened at 4 and there was a 45 minute line.

Yeah, I think the people organizing it really do not have the average attendee in mind. It's all about networking among the professionals; the average fan is just there to spend money and then get out of the way when the important people pass by.

It's a really depressing atmosphere. Both years I've gone a single day and been so disheartened that I couldn't bring myself to return, despite having a weekend pass. I'm definitely avoiding the entire thing in the future.

sometime when i have more time - after friday - i'll rant back with you..but today, i listened up to Cat with the wine visiting Jaime in the cell. fucking hell.

NO YOU STUPID BITCH! HE'S NOT LYING! Fuck me, but WHY would he straightforwardly admit to throwing Bran off the tower AND fucking his sister, then lie about everything else! jesus christ she's an idiot. at least Cersei doesn't pretend to be anything different than what she is.

and, yeah, it's funny how as much as i adore arya more through a re-read, it's proportionate to the amount i despise sansa, who really is her mother's daughter.

Heh, I so agree about Crows. He needed some serious editing. I hope Dragons quits with the introduction of new characters! Hello, we want to read about the ones we already like. It's not like it's a TV show bringing Cousin Oliver on for ratings.

Actually I'm pretty much nodding along to all your points. Oh, to see the Wall come down and to see dragons swooping over the land... soon! I hope! (Given the title of the next book.)

I think (hope) he's reached the halfway point. I'm pretty sure he said he's only introducing one new character, and then he's going to start killing them off. (Just please don't let him kill off Jaime too soon!)

VM is now crap. Of course it was renewed. I used to love that character. She's so damn smug sometimes.

Yeah, her damage made sense when she was actually struggling with terrible issues, but now she just comes across as callous for no reason.

I do hope that Logan and Parker run off and have a great life together, while Veronica ends up alone, miserable, and desperately repressing her feelings for Logan while never being able to move on, but, yeah, that's probably just me. I really have no patience for the whole "I'm in love with you but too scared to admit it, so I'll scare you away by acting like a bitch while secretly pining for you" thing.

It's not just you. I assure you. Instead of having an interesting relationship a la Nick and Nora (The Thin Man), they chose to go down a very dull and frustratingly pedestrian road. It's wearisome and I am quite fed up with it.

It's the same thing that happened with Buffy and Spike: Oooh, a dark, interesting relationship where the characters totally spark off of each other. Quick, let's make it as dreary and miserable as possible!

I don't know if it's a sexist thing (we can't have our precious goody-goody heroine actually enjoying herself with a "bad boy") or a moralistic thing (if this "bad boy" is going to be involved with our lead, we have to sand off all his rough edges and turn him into a wuss) or what....

But, hey, they're the ones losing viewers, so their loss.
