There's now a cover image for the Stalky & Co. DVD, my beloved 'earers, and it is our Uncle Stalky! The cover is not only beautiful, but it proves that it is the 1982 Robert Addie version that is being released! Okay, I had strongly suspected that it had to be the Robert Addie version because, as far as I know, there hasn't been any other TV or ( Read more... )

Yay! What marvellous news! I am so pleased for you! It seems BBC are releasing a lot of their old unreleased-until-now stuff - my dear favourite The Children of Green Knowe, based on the first in a book series I love and still read, is being released in March. I have a DVD of the mini series that was released online in a very non official capacity so am thrilled that an official one has is going to be released. Hurray BBC indeed :) :)

Oh, thank you! It was such an incredible surprise because I'd heard that the BBC had destroyed its copy of Stalky & Co.. Obviously, Simply Media and/or the BBC must have managed to find another one. In any case, it's thrilling news because I fell in love with the Stalky stories when I was in my teens.

Of course, I'm very happy for you as your beloved favourite, The Children of Green Knowe, is also being released in March! :-) It sounds like your experience with that book series is very similar to my my experience with Stalky & Co.. And, like you, I had an unofficial copy of Stalky & Co., but the sound and visual quality was pretty poor as the video file was literally taken from a taped TV broadcast from at least 20 or 25 years ago. It will be very nice to have the series on DVD.

BTW, you chose the perfect day to comment on this post as it's Robert Addie's birthday!
