I wasn't going to play it up until a friend talked me into trying it a few days ago. I'm going to be on Siel(US) as an Asmodian, shame I can't join you Russ ;)

I wasn't actually too interested in Aion prior to reading this, but have always respected your opinions and such, especially regarding MMOs.. I may have to give this game a shot now. FFXI is the rotting corpse of a game that died years ago, yet I've been logging on some to waste time, but I'm nowhere near content playing it.

The real question for me was.. Aion, back to WoW, or wait on FF14..

I loved WoW for the most part. It had its imperfections, but as a whole made FFXI look like an unfinished project of an MMO.

FFXI was brilliant in its ability to draw you back to play even after going through torture to finish the most mundane tasks over and over and over.. I'm not sure how SE accomplished this, maybe some kind of Japanese hypnotism. I don't like SE at all and though I love the Final Fantasy stories, I feel like getting hyped up for FF14 is setting myself up for disappointment. SE will likely abandon it for some other project..

So I don't know.. FF14, WoW or Aion..

since ffxiv is not out yet, you have basically 3 choices. play WoW, play aion, or not play games at all.

imo play all aion untill ffxiv comes out, then play ffxiv, then choose between 1 of the 3 after giving everything else a try.

aion is really fun :3

I don't know what it is, but I can't get into Aion. I really wanted to, because WoW has become completely blah for me. I think I am at a point where any game that totes PvP as a big focus is a huge turnoff. I have done the whole competitive PvP thing in WoW, and pvp just gives me soo much extra stress. I seriously think I have ulcers from going for Glad on 5v5 and 2v2.

I am looking forward to FFXIV and a game thats primary objective is going to be PVE ;D Until then, I am just been catching up on all the console games I have been slacking at.

I had been doing the math on my wow time the other day. I realize I have spent about two solid years doing WoW endgame. That isn't including the small blip I spent in BG. I am really itching for something new and different.

Overall: I love Aion, it's the most fun I've had since FFXI days, I feel rewarded for my time spent, and getting good equipment is actually feeling like an achievement, rather than something I expect to be handed on a silver platter (wich WoW is now). Tanking is also the most fun I've had while doing that role in any of the MMO's mentioned earlier; FFXI, WoW, AoC. I haven't gotten to see how the end-game PvE and PvP is yet, but regardless, Aion is well worth the trip to Lv.50. The Lore is interesting and fun (if you are into reading stuff like me), you feel powerful, you get to fly for a certain period in some areas (and you can glide across the ground or over large distances from basically anywhere (when you learn how (double tap spacebar)). Aion has trumphed FFXI for me. Wich to some might seem like being a weird favorite MMO being how dated it is. But it gives me all I want. A challenge to get the good stuff, so that it actually feels nice to have it after putting an effort into getting it. Crafting system that has some luck into ( ... )
