Fuji is your friend for compacts :)

cheers spike, it must admit I was thinking Fuji after looking at some of the photos taken with it at Flickr.

I've gotta concur on that, as out of some of the compacts I'd looked at (as thinking about a new camera myself) some of the best ones were Fuji. Dunno about a specific model, but at least that narrows it down a bit. Some of the budget models by big companies can be a bit arse though - Canon strings to mind - despite making kickass expensive models.

what sort of thing you after? compact or decent optical zoom?

ive got a (brand new, boxed, been used once to test it works) olympus sp550uz with 18x optical zoom for sale...

lovely bit of kit and really small considering the lens inside it, but its about twice as thick as your average "compact"

£150 and its yours (comes with a 1gb xd card)
