[Communicator clicks on, there's a moment of silence before Ocelot speaks. His breathing is quick and shallow, but his voice remains unnaturally calm.]
So it was a success. Despite...
Maybe we can finally get five minutes of peace and quiet now.
Hey Reno. Still in one piece?

... What's up? You don't sound too good.

He gave a half-assed smile, feeling just a bit guilty and apologetc even though he was sure he had nothing to apologise for. Lazily, he threaded his fingers together and, somewhat awkwardly, rested his chin on them whilst he waited on Ocelot. Keeping an eye on him without actually watching because he knew personally how annoying it was to have someone stare at you when you were trying to keep it together.

Well, it didn't seem like it would get any better than this and it was just a matter of time before a pack of sniffer dogs or some other hell beast would show up, attracted by the-
No, no use thinking about that right now. It wouldn't do him any good. Taking another deep breath Ocelot looked up at Reno.
"Let's go."

Quickly enough, Reno straightened up, taking just a moment to stretch his legs before he leaned over a bit to offer a hand out to Ocelot and help him up off of the floor. Time to get moving.

"...damn. Soon as I get a hold of her, that bitch is getting a payback."

Reno started off on the way back, stopping mid stride and and paused for a minute, hesitantly turning to shoot a worried glance at Ocelot. Yeah, like hell he was walking on his own like that. He moved over a bit closer and reached to pull Ocelot by his uninjured arm to hook it across his shoulders.

There was no point in playing up his manly pride or trying to convince Reno that he could walk back without help. Hell, he wouldn't even be able to convince himself of that right now. Instead he let Reno take his arm, biting down a groan as the fabric of his jacket stretched and pulled at his scorched skin.
"...thanks."

"... Second time now."

He glanced at Reno, not really sure what it was he was getting at.
"Second time what?"

It was a stupid thing to be pointing out, really. Outside of that, there wasn't much similar between the two situations. The lack of chimera everywhere, especially, was a difference Reno was more than thankful for.
"Not exactly poignant, I know. Just a random thought."

"We really got to stop seeing eachother like this."

At least his sense of humour was still somewhat intact, Reno honsetly didn't know what he'd do otherwise. Bad moods had a way of being catching.

His remaining sense of humor had actually little to do with it. Ocelot was just trying to keep himself from focusing too much on his right arm that had become significantly more numb since they started walking. He could still move it, even though he tried to avoid it. It was just... judging by how it looked it should hurt, but all he felt was a dull throb. Keeping himself occupied with empty chatter would at least prevent him from thinking about just how bad the damage could be.

Honestly, it hadn't even occured to Reno that the damage could be lasting. So far as he was concerned, once Ocelot was in the clinic and his wounds cleaned out, they could call on a healer to do the job. It probably would've been good to remember that everyone didn't come from a world with potions and materia or things like that.

Just as it hadn't occured to Reno that some weren't used to healing magic, Ocelot hadn't even considered the option. As far as he was concerned this would take time to heal, if it even would.
"...perfect timing. Like always."

Reno stopped, turning to glance at Ocelot. Perfect timing for what? He wasn't about to collapse was he? Reno wasn't weak by any stretch but he was hardly in any state to be carrying anyone, especially not someone in such a... worrying state.
