It's looks like the main idea on Russian cars is that they are built to last, not built to look nice and be comfortable. You are right, some of these cars look like little war cars, the design lines haven't evolved much in this country. Maybe they have the excuse of a cold climate and maybe that's on of the reasons they prefer robust cars. These are just suppositions. And no, they picture is not that bad.
