My mother use to keep kids when I was growing up and one of our faves was to re-create scenes from the TV show "Dallas." Do you remember this? JR, Bobby, Pam, Union Oil....
We used to get in fights trying to determine who would get to play Pamela. Everyone wanted to be married to Bobby!!!
Now when I look back I think was this really appropriate that young children were watching a nighttime TV show were every other scene was with JR in bed with someone other than his wife???
haha, I do - but only vaguely - I must have been veeerrry young when it was on!
I also remember all the kids here used to love playing The Brady Bunch. LOL... it seemed fun at the time but looking back it's a little lame... hehe... the 'Mother's & Father's' kiddie game of the 'modern' TV-age! XD
Ah! My first favorite "game" was sitting in a randomly selected up-turned pot lid on the kitchen floor and spinning myself around. *was quite small then*
I, too, grew up around mostly boys so we got involved in lots of out-doorsey activities like "polywogging" (throwing a stringed bucket into a local pond and putting the polywogs into a jar to watch them grow into 4-legged frogs).
Lots of outdoor sports, fort-and fire building, bike-riding, fishing (until girlie shoes and budding breasts changed my trajectory at age 11) but my favorite was Flashlight Tag - basically hide-and-seek played on a late summer night with only one flashlight for the seeker! Spooky, bug-infested fun!
Indoor board game favorite was Memory because I was so damn good at it that I could regularly wow (and frustrate) the fam. I still have a vintage set - I love the artwork! *should give it a journal post!*
Now - 'scuse me while I go play with my Spirograph! *becoming quite important to me latey*
haha always more fun when there's a few boys in the group! Had a few boys in our 'neighbourhood group' (it was always called something different though because we would make up "gang (XD) names for ourselves. Oh, good times. The boys would teach us how to catch minnows or yabbies in the creek, not that we ever really caught anything but half the fun was trying! haha the things that excite one as a kid - glorious
