Gabriel sorts through the last of the reports and sets them aside. He scrubs his face with his hands and shakes his head a little as he thinks back over the last few days

Ben, too, is taking a walk. Something about the place has done good things for his leg, and he's hardly leaning on his wolf's-head sword cane at all. But he's feeling rather at loose ends and just a bit useless right now. He sees Gabriel and waves at him.
Ben grins at him. "Well, I hope you've stayed away from chili-covered anchovies, at least. My life was pretty darn quiet, all told, until this thing with Lu blew up in our faces." His mouth twists. "That was a bad day, Gabriel."
"Oh aye, definitely." Gabriel laughs, then shakes his head. "Aye. A day o' Lucifer poppin' up ain't ever a good one, 's true. Still, least he don't get all confused 'bout Archangels all bein' the one person."
"No." Grouchy Ben is still grouchy and wants to stab someone with his blessed blade. "He just kicks the everlovin' shit outta one of my best friends as an example. I hope I get some damn payback outta this."
Ben smiles a little at that. "Yeah, it is. Janni's swapping recipes with the cooks in the kitchen. I've got in some target practice. And the puffins are hilarious."
He cracks up. "The puffins? Are amazin'. The Doctor told me they've taken a shine t' his TARDIS. 'm imaginin' a blue police box swarmed by chatterin' li'l birds with stubby wings!
Ben laughs. "Grumpy little birds with Groucho Marx walks who take everything very seriously. Including their bathtimes." He gets a thoughtful look. "I wonder how they'd react to a wolf. Don't imagine they've ever seen them before...
You know... a photo of Janni, wolfed, with puffins sitting on her, would go awesome over the mantel." Is he plotting? Yes he is.
"Take Raz with y'. He seems t' have struck up a rapport with 'em." He chuckles. "They're sweet li'l birds. Tryin' t' be friendly while bein' awfully confused 'bout all these new people an' new scents."
"Well, we'll try not to freak them out with our big-bad-wolfiness, and if they don't like it we'll leave them be. At least they're not nesting this time of year. Wouldn't like to disturb them while they had little ones." He huffs out a discontented breath. "Bad enough we're going to disturb them with demons. I guess I should be sharpening my blade and maybe my claws."
Gabriel smiles, a serene little smile. "No demon can come t' this island. Raziel's wards have amplified the natural protections Iona has built int' her. Any demon who tries... y' seen when a fly gets int' an electronic fly zapper? Like that. Zap."
Ben snorts out a laugh. "You know what, I'd pay money to see that." He frowns a little. "But I know you guys are gearing up for a Big Damn Battle. Where's it going to be?
Gabriel shrugs. "'m not sure at this point. In the sky, I wager. It wouldn't surprise me if it were over the North Sea an' in the freezin' air above it."
