Jul 14, 2010 15:33

For those of you who jumped in to test out LJ Juggler when I uploaded it at stupid o'clock this morning, thank you. Also, because I'm a terrible person, you'll need to uninstall it and reinstall the new versionThere are only two major updates here, but they're kind of important ( Read more... )

It's basically an attempt to do LJlogin for Google's Chrome browser since LJlogin was the main reason I ever opened Firefox anymore.

I like new browsers,

*scoops this up*

My goodness. I'm using LJ in Chrome. Never thought I'd see the day.

Any plans for a "log out" option in the accounts menu?

I can add one of those pretty easily. I'll make a note to do so in the next version!

Woooo,

Just an FYI-the beta (I think) version of Chrome now has a functioning cookies API.

It looks like you're right! If they've really moved it out of beta, it looks like I've got some work to do after I get home from Dragon*Con. Thanks for the heads-up!

Excited,
Ana

Hi! I JUST found this tonight (I have been looking for an LJ Login substitute ever since I switched to Chrome over a year ago). THANK YOU so much for doing this!

But...it's not working for me. D: I've installed it, added my usernames and passwords, and I made sure to log out of LJ before I tried to use it the first time. The usernames turn aqua when I select them, but it doesn't switch between accounts (or log out, when I select that).

I installed the version available here, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling (adding only two accounts the second time, in case my six RP accounts were too much for it to handle). I'm not sure what to do next.

Again, thank you SO much for making this available, and for any help you can give.:)

Hmm... That sounds odd and I don't know what could be causing it. Two thoughts.

First, if account-switching doesn't work, one thing you can try doing is logging out manually. Due to the hacky way the system works now, sometimes that'll fix problems. (And sometime in the next few weeks we're changing the code so that it's much smarter. We hope.)

Second, you are probably doing this already, but you have to let the little pop-up box disappear on its own. While it's possible to click on other stuff and do things while that happens (unlike with ljlogin for Firefox, which locks your browser while it switches things, LJ-Juggler will let you click away, but if you do the switch won't work; another thing we're hoping to fix soon).

If neither of those work... I'm not sure. You're not able to get it to work at all? Because that sucks.

Thinky-face,
Ana

I tried again, this time already logged in. If I try to switch accounts while logged in, it will log me out, but it won't log me into the new one. And, okay, the log out button is working too (I don't think I was waiting for the box to disappear when I tried it yesterday).

Selecting an account while I'm logged out does nothing (I've been refreshing the page, etc., to check.) I tried closing all my LJ tabs and starting fresh in a new browser, with no result.

I did see that the code will be changing soon - maybe that will make it work? (I've waited this long, after all.;)). Or should I try, I don't know, deleting cookies, or telling LJ not to save my passwords? I don't think that should make a difference, but I'm not sure what else to try.

Thanks again!

Weeeeeird. It shouldn't matter if LJ remembers your password or anything. No idea what's going on there...

Anyway, yes, we're doing a major code refactor over the next week or so in order to take advantage of some new features in Chrome. If you leave the extension installed it should automatically update when the new version goes up.

Hope that works,
Ana
