The only sadness is that they never animated the Fishing Rod of Love storyline.

Some WERE epic! Off the top of my head, some favorites were:

Mark MacKinnon's Ranma 1/2: The Shadow Chronicles - dark and very powerful and sadly unfinished.

J. Austin Wilde's Ranma Goes to War Series - The final installment was my favorite, but the previous two get you there as you follow Ranma...well, into a real war.

Krista Perry's Hearts of Ice - You CAN'T talk about epic Ranma fanfiction without mentioning this gem by Krista Perry. While it's probably not my absolute favorite, I credit it for inspiring a lot of other fanfic writers to put their best efforts into writing quality fiction. ...Plus it's darn good. AND FINALLY FINISHED.
