GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW WHEN VOTING ON POPSTAR

Dec 23, 2007 02:11

This was posted earlier today from R&E forum:

Rupert has less than 50 votes above the others (Jonas Bros) and Sam (hmm... same name) from Popstar just posted this over at ICM:

Okay, now that I have completed the overhaul process, I am here to explain what has happened so that there isn't any miscommunication.

First, I'd like to point out that I haven't read any of your comments/questions posted above, as I'm sure there are many, and I have a feeling not all of them will be nice.

Second, I want you to know that this was a pain-staking process (it took me nearly ten hours to do this) and a heart-wrenching one (because I knew it would be cutting things very close between you and the JoBros.)

Third, I forced myself *not* to focus on the sidebar (where the numbers were going or how the rankings were changing), because I seriously needed this to be an impartial process.

And finally, this process was so impartial that throughout the overhaul process I came across two entries from Tao that had to be deleted (they were too short).

Obviously, I respect her and I would not want to do this, but that's part of being impartial, and I hope it shows a level of integrity that will be respected by everyone here.

Okay, with all of that said, the vast majority of comments were removed for the following reasons:

- Too short (as a general rule, there should be three lines of text; using a super-large font does not qualify.)

- Mentioning rank (a hand full of people mentioned when Rupert was in second; so you can see why this rule was so important. He's not in second anymore!

- Foreign language comments (there were not too many of these, but they did account for some)

- Swearing (not too many, but some)

- Disparaging remarks (again, not too many, but some)

- Multiple accounts (I don't distinguish who these belong to so it may not apply to you at all; it could be others or a mixture of many)

- Objective opinion (Some may have met the guidelines, but for whatever reason, I felt they did not belong -- publisher's right)

Keep in mind -- everything I just said above was not restricted to Rupert; it applied to absolutely everyone. The comments were presented to me in the order they were entered into the system, so I did not focus on one celebrity at a time.

As I went along, they were either approved, deleted, or given a featured marking. All features comments can be viewed here:

This will also be the paid that is linked on the editor page where it says, "If you're not sure what to write, read what others have written first."

As far as the message on your frontpage, it's not entirely accurately. Technically, yes, the JoBros are about 30 comments behind, but they also have 30 accounts pending activation, so they are really about 60 comments behind, so your standing has not changed much at all.
