Title: People in the city Fandom: DC Rating: PG Summary: Anyplace else, it'd be quirks. Notes: I'm not entirely happy with this, but I don't know how to make it better.
really makes me wish i lived there, more than usual, that is. That -- still seems a little dangerous. (Gotham, the city with so many survival tricks and rituals it's evolved into a city-wide church to madness. This is Gotham, I know I know.)
I really wanted to show the many little things that characterize Gotham, and Gotham is just so special that they don't need that much development. Thank you for letting me know it worked!
I've always wondered at the circuses that keep on visiting Gotham even after the thing with Dick's parents and when the premier crazy in the city is a clown. I know this clown edits his act mostly out of respect for the inhabitants of the city, however; there are so many jokes they'd find in bad taste.
Love the details--both the mundane ones and the ones that could only happen in Gotham. Especially love the bookendings of the girl running to the city and the girl running away, and the clown who edits his act--wonderful. The last line is beautiful too.
Well, they all have a meaning specific to Gotham. The father listening to his daughter's laughter, for instance, was once taken as a hostage by the Joker. >_>
Especially love the bookendings of the girl running to the city and the girl running away, and the clown who edits his act--wonderful. I wanted to show how Gotham is a mix of hope and despair, thus the girl and the mention of Steph. The clown edits his act out of respect for the Gothamites - there's a lot of jokes they wouldn't find funny at all.
The last line is because that's the strongest bond they can have to this city and the main reason why a lot of them haven't left yet. I'm glad you liked! :)

"The girl who ran from the city when she was half-dead and who will only not return when she's dead-dead. The boy who returned anyway."
I love this line.

But I'm certainly glad I can write Gotham's PR!
