Still, he chooses his words with care: Damian's not him. Some of the things Dick wants to tell him, right now and every day, he would react badly to. They would bewilder and anger him, and do more damage to their rapport than Dick is comfortable with inflicting on the one relationship Damian calls friendship.

I love the way you've written Dick's relationship with Damian, particularly the depth of his understanding and empathy.

I'd never written them together, and I like it. Dick always uses his experience as an older brother to be a better older brother for the next one. Like for his self-perceived or Batman-implied "failures", he's driven to do better each time.

Damian's prickly as hell, but Dick's got a lot of experience with prickly people. :)

Seriously: toothbrush. I'm not sure I get it either. I think it's the collision between Damian being a tsundere and Dick being the best big brother. Thanks for the comment! :)

Damian really wants to be a Jedi, but he thought Zorro was more acceptable. He's also kind of uncomfortable with Steph always judging his childhood based on her own, even though she means well.

They all have their issues. (I say this is the least pejorative way possible.) I think that's why they can be good for each other. Because they're Batman and Robin, Dick's the only person Damian can show even a hint of vulnerability, and he's the only one who can work out a solution. And taking care of people is good for Dick. Thank you for letting me know you liked it.

You have both of them and their relationship down. This was simultaneously adorable and deeply sad, like most things involving Damian. At least, those that don't add disturbing or frightening to the mix.

Aw, thank you. I often feel like Damian's so adorable because he's deeply sad, but that may just be the angst lover in me.
