Franco "Dok" Harris

So today, we had Franco "Dok" Harris speaking to us at Chatham.

First of all, he was late.  So that was frustrating.
Secondly, he arrived wearing a suit over a casual shirt and JEANS.  I understand that he was trying to present a "casual" image, but it was so obviously fabricated and that ticked me off.  Do something because you sincerely mean it, ( Read more... )

It surprises me that you don't want to vote in Pittsburgh since it's where you'll be spending the majority of the next two years.

Re: taxing students. Yes, that is Ravenstalh's big plan to get Pgh out of the red--uless Harrisburg agrees to up the occupational tax from $52 to 400-odd dollars.

That annoys me when politicians put down their competition. Almost makes me want to vote against them, simply to revolt against their immaturity.

B&N in squirrel hill is closing for the same reason Panera closed and the Hindu store closed--rent is too expensive. That would be a nice thought to have a bookstore in every neighborhood, esp if it was an independent bookstore, not a chain.

Was it Amber Phillips? She's my hero.

Working at 13 doesn't sound like a bad idea, if the idea is to keep the kid out of trouble, not to make a fortune off of him or her. I've been working since I was 15, and you can start babysitting when you're around 12 or 13.

Charlottesville needs my vote a LOT more. That district needs more Dem. votes than PA does.

But actually, there can be no new taxes imposed on Pittsburgh right now, because we're working on borrowed money. So. There are not going to be any student taxes or sick taxes. I don't understand where this got started.

Yeah...I mean, I guess it irritates me most because i haven't gotten to hear Ravenstahl, and I want to know if it is merited or not.

I know, I know.
No, B&N is closing because they are not making enough $ due to a lack of parking spaces.
Panera's closed because they were having difficulty with their landlord refusing to do repairs.

Yeah, Amber Phillips!!

Um. No.

that sounds like an excuse. there's that whole parking garage right under the library and two JCC lots. that would be like saying none of the other stores on forbes and murray get business cause of parking.
