Ooh, a look into Edward's past! How interesting! I'm curious to know what exactly had Caroline in such a dither, though...

Thank you! And, aha, sorry, I've actually written so much Edward backstory that I forget that people won't know that Edward's disastrous first marriage is kind of... well, not quite a running joke, but not a secret anymore, anyway. Caroline couldn't decide between two men; she eventually for reasons chose Edward and found out afterwards that she was in love with the other and went into meltdown and that was that, but they had to wait three years for a divorce. (Her dithering is most likely because of the things Diana suggests and because she's worrying about her choice.)

Caroline is still around and Julia has to meet her sometimes, which is always fun. (Edward backstory so far mostly consists of his complicated relationship with his mother, him and his cousin Nancy, or the mostly disastrous relationships he has before he meets Julia. Which is of course in some ways the most disastrous for everybody. :-D)

I really do like Diana. If only they had managed to call off the wedding...well. That would have made everything too simple, of course. XD
