Heh, this bit was actually far less awkward between them than I'd been imagining. XD But very good nevertheless!

I especially liked Julia's comment after Edward told her there was no hurry. As well as his reaction. Just priceless~

In many ways, it's the most straightforward bit of the early days, really. Although, it probably is just as well Julia didn't let Edward start an awkward conversation in the middle there, or it wouldn't have been. ;-)

And, ha, thanks!

And Michael had always had such trouble remembering her name.)
Oh, my God. No loss there then.

They're very sweet together. It's hard to imagine an age where, ah, intimate relations were treated seriously, as a significant step. as potentially life-altering. Mostly I prefer current manners and mores, but the old notions had their points, certainly for enhancing the emotional experience.

I hope they've packed some extra items too. I cannot imagine Edward with a little bubba straight away nine months on. He would pull his hair till it fell out. Although it would be pretty funny in a Cary Grant screwball kind of way.

Well, I think it depends on the people in question as well as the social mores of the time, too.

(I think Julia would be more disturbed by being pregnant at this point than Edward.)

Thanks for reading! :-)

*flails* They are so sweet and wonderful. ♥ I just adore the early-times awkwardness. I want to hug them! All the panic and being so very negative about everything, Edward just stopping anywhere by the road, Amy and her horseshoe and confetti, Julia's guilt about her own feelings. The kiss by the door, and the necklace, and the dress ♥ Indeed this went quite close to a love scene, and in your gracefully old-fashioned, delicate and subtle kind of style, the result is just wonderful. ♥ Reading this made me long to write something so emotional. Thank you. ♥

Just one thing I noticed:
"It all seemed a world away from his panicked thoughts that he couldn’t even begin to understand what she was getting at.": I wondered if that shouldn't be "such a world away" or something along those lines…?

Aww, thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it.

(And corrected! That was one of those sentences that clearly did not end up quite where I intended when I started it... /o\)
