No ghost pirates were needed! This is great as it is.

They would have each other always, their bond of friendship something more pure than the obligation of being bound by blood. The realization of it, this sudden truth of their promise to one another, made the world and all its prejudices seem much smaller and less intimidating.

Didn't seem like filler or somesuch at all to me. I liked the talk Vala had with Black Petunia...sort of one of those "is this what I'm going to turn into?" moments.

Can't wait to see what the next installment brings~
