Oof, this kind of stresses me out even though the holidays are over...which means you certainly captured the right tone, hey ;) I like how Allyson's mother switches between "you'll get married and never to come" and "he'll get sick of you"...It's so clearly manipulative and it's satisfying that Allyson stands up to her.

Allyson's mother has kept this kick going for years because it's all she knows how to do. Her identity is wrapped up in her domestic life because she has always been afraid to find some role that only required her to be herself...if that makes any sense.

Daphne knows how to pull this trip, but Allyson also knows how to punch back. It's a well-learned and old routine for them.
