Ouch, that last line. I like the introspection and the glimpse into her thoughts we get-- the language and rhetoric too. Phrases like "like a teething cub" kind of make the world more immersive and real, you know? Looking forward to discovering more. :)
The "teething cub"-comment and the last line are actually my favorite parts of this, so I'm very glad they caught someone's eye!
I made the mad decision of joining Camp NaNoWriMo all June, but after that there will be more and will definitely have a look around the rest of this community and do some commenting of my own :)
The last line related heavily to what set the main plot of this story in motion, so I'm happy it has you curious! There will be more, but probably not before the end of June/beginning of July (real life is busy-busy at the moment).
Karse will definitely be showing up more in Portal Guards, though she's actually not one of the POV-characters. But why she is where she is and why she was sent there will be revealed later on, never fear! Glad you liked the prologue :D
I'm big on non-human characters; it's just so much fun to play around with them, both when it comes to creating their biology and their sociology, so to speak. I won't give any spoilers, but I'll say that her species and the reason for her ending up where she is will come revealed later on in the story!
