She does, but not for a very long time yet. They do eventually manage to maintain a very strong and lasting friendship, though!

Well, I honestly doubt Maria feels like she has anything to forgive Arelie for; all she really wants is to involve her in Ahava's life if she wants to be there. And I agree, adoption stories need more of the parents and of the cooperation that involves placing a child with a family.

Thank you!

:( I love the details in this, but I can't stop feeling sorry for poor Maria. Hugs to her!

Maria I think is pretty happy; she has her baby and her husband, and all she really needs is to have her friend there and happy too. She isn't going to get it for a while, though.

Thank you!

Everyone's posts are so sad lately! Not that I'm complaining, I love a nice piece of sad fic. I hope that Arelie writes back, but I have no idea if it would be good for her or not...

She doesn't for a while, but by the time she does it is very good for her. Maria becomes one of her really good friends, actually.

Thank you!

Oh, Maria. I have no idea how Arelie will take this letter, whether it comforts her to know that Ahava is so loved, or if it will just open old wounds. She did take the first step in contacting Maria, so maybe this is a good thing?

This is one of the letters that Arelie puts unopened in a box under her bed for several years. But she does eventually read it, and it does eventually help. I think one of the things that helps to ease her grief and guilt is that Ahava is so obviously loved and wanted and well cared for-- if she couldn't take care of her daughter herself, at least she found the best possible family for her.

Thank you!
