Title: Picnic Date
Summary: Talon and Rachel have a picnic.
Notes: This is the first piece with Rachel in it. She becomes Talon's girlfriend. At this point they have just gone on a few dates.
It was that time of year when spring turned to summer. There wasn't constant rain and the last chill was out of the air but there was still no humidity. Talon preferred the coolness of autumn but the pre-summer weather was a close second for him. That was why he decided to take Rachel out for a picnic on the first nice weekend of the year.
"This is where you grew up?" Rachel asked as she looked around the backyard of the house. The yard was filled with trees, gardens and a pond in the middle. The pond was surrounded by rocks and had fish swimming in it. By the pond, under an oak tree there was a blanket and picnic basket set up.
"No, its my grandparent's house. I used to spend my summers here," Sammy lead her over to the blanket. They sat down under the shade of the oak tree.
"You mean the bad boy Talon used to spend time with his family," Rachel teased and Talon retaliated by sticking his tongue out at her.
"Hey now, family is always important to me. But I only came here till I was a teen. I kind of regret not spending more time here now," Rachel rested her back against the tree trunk and let Talon open the basket.
"What do you want? I got some fruit, chips and salsa, and some dessert for later," Talon said, looking into the basket.
"What kind of fruit? And the chips and salsa of course," Rachel said, reaching over to help Talon unpack.
The pair spent the afternoon feeding each other strawberries, having watermelon seed spitting contests and trying not to spill the salsa.
"You promised me some delicious dessert Talon and I expect it," the pair were lying down under the shade of the oak tree. Talon laughed at Rachel's request and sat up to get the dessert.
"They're homemade brownies that my mom made. I know how much you love them," Rachel was sitting right behind him, looking over his shoulder, ready to grab the tubberware container as soon as Talon got it out.
"Hell yeah!" Rachel grabbed the container from Talon and sat back down, opening it up.
"Share," Talon said as Rachel took a bite of a brownie, eyes closing and groaning in satisfaction.
"I'm an only child, I never learned to share," Rachel said between bites but held the container out to Talon anyways.
"Take the rest of the brownies home," They sat side by side on the edge of the pond, watching the koi fish swimming, half a container of brownies lay abandoned behind them.
"Thanks Talon," Rachel said before leaning into kiss him.
"Damn it I've got to go Talon. I've got class in an hour," Rachel said after checking her watch. She kissed Talon again before standing up and gathered her things.
"I'll call you Talon," Rachel yelled as she ran out of the backyard.
