Title: First Surgery
Summary: Denise preps for her first surgery in vet school
Before vet school Denise had wanted to specialize in surgery. In her days of volunteering in vet clinics she waited for the surgery days, loving nothing more then to observe them. They were different from the normal mundane appointments, where vaccinations were commonplace and the occasional case of diarrhea was thrown in for fun.
Denise loved the fact that no two surgeries were the same, the problem solving and just the hands on experience overall. Her housemates all thought she was completely insane for loving that part of veterinary medicine.
By her third year of vet school Denise didn't want to specialize (another four years of school was a little too much) but she still loved surgery. So Denise was excited, to say the least, when one of her first semester courses was Surgical Exercises I, the first practical surgical class of vet school.
Denise's first surgery was scheduled to be a dog neuter, perfect for her first one. Her nerves were still getting the better of her. Denise's hands were shaking and her breathing was shallow as the realization of what she would be doing hit her.
The dog was asleep on the table, the abdomen shaved and sterilized, surgical instruments ready on the table. She had scrubbed for the surgery and the techs and assistants were waiting in the surgery room.
"Its now or never," Denise whispered to herself as she picked up a scalpel.

Title: Earrings
Summary: Lily and Sarah shop for earrings.
Notes:
These are the earrings that Lily buys.
"What are we looking for again?" Sarah and Lily looked through the cases of jewellery, Lily on the hunt for something specific.
"Jade earrings," Lily answered not looking up from the glass case she was peering into.
"Why jade earrings?"
"That's what my mom bought herself as a reward for all her hard work after she graduated from vet school. They are so beautiful and I always wanted to wear them when I was growing up. She never let me though. I told myself when I got into teacher's college I was going to do the same thing when I graduated," Lily explained with a smile.
"That's really nice," Sarah wandered over to the other side of the room.
"I brought you because fashion is your thing, not mine. I needed someone's opinion I trusted and I love Alex but I don’t have faith in his fashion sense," Lily said with a laugh.
"I found some over here," Lily walked over to the case that Sarah was at and looked at the jade jewellery. Lily looked at the different styles of earrings before she found the ones she loved.
"Can I look at this pair?" Lily asked the salesman who had been following the two girls around the store.
The earrings that she loved were simple teardrop shaped pieces of jade with a silver fastening. She held them up to her ears and looked in the mirror.
"They're beautiful Lily," Sarah said.
Lily held the earrings in her hand and remembered all they represented. They meant that after four years of hard work she was finally graduating teachers college. She was finally living up to her goals. She was finally living her own life.
"I'll take them."

Title: Annoyances
Summary: Romeo, Alex and Ryan are trying to write a song. Trying the key word.
"Stop it Ryan," Alex growled out as he, Romeo and Ryan sat in Alex and Romeo's living room. Ryan had spent the last five minutes tapping his pen on the pad of paper he was writing on, the table, the couch, pretty much anything in the general area.
"Stop what?"
"Drumming that pen," Ryan looked at the pen before realizing what had been doing and stopped.
"Sorry."
"So what do you two think about this line here?" Romeo started to ask before Alex interrupted him again.
"Ryan!"
"What?" Ryan looked up from the pad of paper in surprise at Alex's exclamation.
"You're doing it again," Romeo tried to stifle his laughter at the bickering pair.
"Sorry Alex. I'll promise I'll stop," Ryan replied with a roll of his eyes and stopped drumming his pen.
"Back to the writing guys. What do you think of these lines together? I think-"
"I'm going to jam that pen down you're throat if you don't stop that now," Alex yelled at Ryan.
"Sorry Alex its just a habit."
"A horribly annoying one to anyone in the general area."
"What? You think you don't have any annoying habits?" The pair were standing up and yelling at each from across the table.
"Stop it you two," Romeo yelled and Ryan and Alex immediately shut up. "Ok now sit down. Give me the pen Ryan."
"Hey, what?" Ryan protested.
"You don't get the pen anymore, you keep drumming it on everything. Hand it over," Ryan gave Romeo the pen grudgingly. "Thank you. Now lets stop arguing and get back to writing. I know your frustrated with this song but really. The less you two argue the quicker we will finish this song."
An hour later they had finished and Romeo was sick of babysitting his band mates.
