"Yo, Aaron!" Kristina called, and he turned, saw her elbowing her way towards him, towing a brunette. "Want you to meet somebody."
"Okay," he said, and smiled at the brunette. She smiled back, a shy, sweet curve of the lips that reached out and belted him right in the heart.
"Clara," Kristina said, "this is Aaron Kendall. Aaron, Clara Hawkins."
"Hi," he said.
"Hi," she replied, still smiling at him. That was really his only excuse for what happened next; that smile was short-circuiting his brain.
"Hi," he repeated, idiotically.
Clara's smile widened, and just like that, he was gone.
