Pleasant SurpriseTitle: Letters
Summary: Adam is the only one who can translate the wizard Eric Boswell's letters. Too bad he has to write a novel when writing a letter.
Notes: I'm going to finish Lunchtime soon, but I couldn't help writing Adam and Zero together. I love them. ^^ Daniel is one of Adam old friends. Juni is a new worker in the Winchester hotel and Adam's new friend. More about them later. New link, but same story. The new link goes to the journal exclusively for original stuff. Enjoy comments are welcome :)
Adam walked in his office giving a pleasant greeting to Tabitha who returned it warily. He raised an eyebrow, “Tabitha, what’s wrong?”
“Um…we got a letter for you to translate from Amulet.” Tabitha said scratching the back of her neck. That was never good.
“Well it can’t be that bad. Who is it from?” Adam asked.
“Um it’s from Eric Boswell.” Tabitha said noticing the way Adam’s eyes widened. He swallowed,
“Not Eric, please, not Eric of all the people in the world why him?”
“I know, but Anemone said that it was urgent. She said she would like a response sent back soon.” Tabitha said.
“How does she expect that when Eric sent me the letter? How long is it this time?” Adam asked.
“Well one part is twenty pages and…”
“Wait one part?”
“You know how much Eric writes and this is supposed to be a short letter. Parts one, two, and three are in your office. I’m sorry Adam, but you’re the only one who can handle Eric’s letters without going through a breakdown. I showed it to Noelle, but she fainted. Aleena called in sick and Oliver retreated to his office. No one can deal with this, but you.” Tabitha said.
Adam sighed, “Of course, but it takes him this long to just ask about something so simple. Like can he use the hotel for a conference or the status of the peace treaty with my dad. I don’t know why he has to tell us his ancestors’ tale. I know it. I studied it. I passed the test on it. I don’t care anymore, but Eric has to tell everyone.” He rolled his eyes sighing at the work that sat on his desk.
Adam turned a wary smile to Tabitha, “Thanks Tabitha. I’ll see how much I can do. Hopefully I can finish this by tonight.”
Tabitha smiled back, “I hope so too.”
*~*~*
Two nights later, Zero walked in Adam’s office with Issac, Daniel, Christophe, and Juni. Zero walked over to a sleeping Tabitha shaking her lightly. Tabitha woke with a start, “Huh! Oh
Zero, it’s you.” She sat up rubbing her eyes.
Zero smiled, “Hi Tabitha, how come you’re still here. It’s been two days.”
“Yes, but I couldn’t leave Adam alone. Even if he is strong he needs all the support he can get.” Tabitha said.
“Why? What is he translating?” Issac asked.
“A letter from Eric Boswell.” Tabitha said. Everyone, but Zero cringed at the name.
“If I know Adam he’s probably freaking out right now.” Issac said.
“I’ll go check on him.” Zero said walking over to the door. He opened it slowly poking his head into the office. “Adam?”
“Anemone for me to have this done soon you’re going to have to be patient. I don’t care what you have to do if you want this to be done right then you’ll shut up and let me do it. Thanks bye.” Adam said angrily slamming the phone down on the receiver so hard it broke.
Zero walked over to Adam’s desk slowly. “Adam?”
Adam looked up angrily his expression calming down instantly. “Zero? Hi Zero.”
“Hi Adam, are you ok?” Zero asked noticing the slight twist in Adam’s smile.
“Oh I’m fine I’m almost done with this novel of a letter. That’s all.” Adam said a bit hysterically.
“Adam, how long have you been here?” Zero asked.
Adam shrugged, “I have no idea, but I’m going to finish this letter.”
“Adam how many pens have you broken?” Zero asked.
“About like five boxes and I’ve broken six phones, but who’s counting.” Adam said scribbling furiously.
Zero walked around to Adam’s desk placing his hands on Adam’s arms slowly. “It’s alright, let’s take a break I know you’re exhausted.”
Adam slowed down leaning back against Zero. “I’ve been here for two days living out of my office. Damn Eric and his letters.”
“Is this a long one?” Zero asked.
Adam laughed, “No this is a short one.”
“What?” Zero exclaimed.
“That’s what I said.” Adam said.
Zero shook his head, “Come on let’s go home. Everyone is worried about you.”
“But the letter…”
“It’s almost done let’s go.” Zero said easing Adam out of his chair. Adam got up wrapping his arms around Zero’s neck. “Zero, let’s have some fun before I collapse.”
Zero smiled, “Oh Adam,”
Zero knew Adam was tired if he was offering to do something in his office. He looked back at the letter shaking his head. Zero didn’t want to see a long letter.
